Okay, so this article is WAY overdue. I can’t apologize enough for that. But anyway, a little over a year ago, my friends and fellow Calling All Nerds partners Jesse and Cody Berberich called me with a question. Did I want to take a ride out to New Jersey to go to an indy wrestling show? It was that simple. My 9 year-old daughter Meghan and I are huge wrestling fans. We love going to live shows. We also love hanging out with Jesse, Cody and their merry band of hooligans. Don’t ask me why…lol. And we never mind having to drive to find ourselves a little fun and excitement. So we all piled into my min-van and headed from Queens to Rahway, New Jersey for our very first live exposure to Pro Wrestling Syndicate.

From that first visit we were all pretty much hooked. Now where old-school indy shows might draw a few dozen people, PWS consistently draws between one and two thousand. They also offer you a great blend of talented young up and comers, modern-day wrestlers who you immediately recognize from the “big leagues,” and a few really cool legends from days gone by. And it all takes place in a comfortable atmosphere that is totally suitable for fans of every age. At our first few PWS shows we had the great pleasure to watch and meet performers like Vader, Matt Hardy, Abdullah the Butcher, Diamond Dallas Page, Demolition, Rikishi, Rocky Johnson, Mil Mascaras, The Rock & Roll Express, and the late, great Paul Bearer.

That is just to name a few. Not to mention the fact that we were treated to some memorable matches featuring more than a few great wrestlers like Kevin Matthews, Amazing Red, Jay Lethal, Sami Callahan, Colt Cabana, and The Big O, as well. Needless to say we were all fans of the company right away. If there was one gripe we had at all, and it was only a small one, it was the travel. Why all the way out in New Jersey? Why not right in our own backyard in Queens? Well apparently God does listen to prayers once in awhile, because on May 18, 2013 Pro Wrestling Syndicate held their very first house show in Woodside, Queens. Less than a mile from the block that I grew up on. The show featured favorites like Scott Steiner, Davey Boy Smith Jr., Marty Jannetty and Flash Funk (Too Cold Scorpio to ECW fans).

Not to mention PWS regulars like fan favorite Starman (Meghan loves him), heel stable Reality Check, and a Suicidal Six-Way match featuring four home-grown PWS talents that left company co-owner/wrestler Pat Buck with a broken nose. Some people will do anything to keep the crowd entertained. Lol. In my opinion, Pro Wrestling Syndicate’s visit to Queens was a big hit. I hope they feel the same way and pay us a visit again in the very near future. Since coming to my hometown, PWS recently kicked off the summer with their highly anticipated annual anniversary house show, celebrating an impressive 6 years in business. I for one am looking forward to six more and beyond.

Owners Pat Buck and Eric Pleska fully intend to stay busy through the summer with a “Future is Bright” double-header designed to promote their talented young guys and their beautiful yet always dangerous bombshell female wrestlers. Those shows will be held in Iselin, New Jersey on July 26th and 27th. If you are a wrestling fan who is looking for some exciting live action that is fun, affordable and appropriate for the whole family, then Pro Wrestling Syndicate is the promotion for you.
