This match very much represents an ending. Pro wrestling historians may argue the point that this match signifies the end of WWE's storied Attitude Era, but no one can argue that Rock/Austin II is a definite sign of changes that would forever change the face of the company, including Steve Austin's betrayal of the fans and his alliance with the evil Mr. McMahon. Some would say the Austin character would never recover from this heel turn. Others say it was a breath of fresh air. It is hard to argue, though, that this match changed everything.
