Pay Per View Crystal Ball:

Money in the Bank 2013

By Jesse Berberich

I know, I know. Donald is usually the one to bring you the predictions with his beloved Pay Per View Crystal Ball (which he purchased from the same place he did his Gremlin by the way), but I thought I'd give looking into the future a go for once haha. Keep your fingers crossed!

Easily one of the most popular concepts in WWE’s history, the Money in the Bank matches are always so exciting to watch and the same can largely be said for the annual PPV event that carries its namesake. There’s a lot of buzz going around Money in the Bank this year, fans are talking, and who can blame them? The card is certainly stacked with what are sure to be exciting matches. The possibilities are endless…

The Usos vs. the Shield - WWE Tag-Team Championship Pre-Show Match:

The best way to push these pre-shows as must-sees for fans is to feature intriguing, potentially exciting, and obviously important matches on them. This is a prime example of exactly how to get people thinking that the pre-show is a throwaway concept. There’s no doubt that this is going to be a pretty entertaining match that could alter the landscape of the company’s midcard, should the Usos win, of course, and continue to expose brass amongst the gold that is the Shield. Now, whether this should happen is a good question. Having the Usos do what practically no other top star in the company could would be a monster push for them, but this finish’s lack of logic would really hurt the Shield, who are without a doubt, fast rising stars.

My Crystal Ball Says: Rollins and Reigns retain after a physical and exciting encounter with the Usos.

Kaitlyn vs. AJ Lee – Divas Championship

How refreshing it is to see an actual storyline play out in the Divas division, and it’s pretty damned good too! However, this match is a little tricky. Most fans, I think, want to see Kaitlyn exact her revenge on the AJ and winning back her belt, but this title reign has been long over due for the impressively over Ms. Lee, and it would be unwise to let it end so soon. Instead, we need a finish that will satisfy the need for the face to have some vengeance and AJ walk away with the title.

My Crystal Ball Says: The pent up rage and frustration that has been building within Kaitlyn over the past few weeks causes her to lose control, kick AJ’s ass, and get disqualified. That way, we get a little more mileage out of this program.

Ryback vs. Chris Jericho

Let’s be honest. If the rumors are true, Chris Jericho won’t be around much longer, as he is going back on tour with Fozzy soon. This will likely be one of, if not THE final, match he participates in for a little while. And what better way to start his regular time off with putting over a worker who desperately needs to be put over. Ryback hasn’t won a PPV match since October I believe. And after failing to defeat John Cena for the Championship at back-to-back PPVs, a definitive win over a veteran like Jericho will put him back in the minds of the fans as a force to be reckoned with again.

My Crystal Ball Says: Ryback goes over and possibly takes out Jericho, thus writing the latter of TV and reestablishes the ‘Big Hungry’ as a monster. Also, I think it was no accident that Ryback and Vickie shared a moment on Raw this past week, so I wouldn’t be surprised if she shows up as his new manager.

The Miz vs. Curtis Axel - Intercontinental Championship Match

I’m not sure what this match is going to accomplish. Unless these workers are given enough time to really go, no one is going to benefit from this. Not the Miz, who needs some good quality matches to recover from his lackluster career as of late. Not Curtis Axel, who needs a nice, lengthy, hard-working performance to showcase that he has the goods to actually hang with the top guys because, in my opinion, even with Heyman, he’s slowly sinking. And not the fans, who don’t deserve to be subjected to a match that could easily be in the midcard on Monday Night Raw. So, here’s hoping we something special.

My Crystal Ball Says: Axel picks up the win.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Alberto Del Rio – World Heavyweight Championship Match

This match is particularly to predict. On one hand, Dolph Ziggler regaining the World title would be a satisfying finish. Fans want to see him climb back to the top and get some payback from Del Rio. On the other hand, this latest title run for Del Rio hasn’t even gotten off the ground yet. How wise is it to take the belt off him so quickly just because fans want Ziggler to win? It would not only hurt him as a wrestler but also the prestige of the championship itself. Some say it has little prestige already, so why tarnish it further if that’s the case. No, I honestly believe that Del Rio should keep the belt for a little while longer, but Ziggler definitely needs to come out looking strong after this encounter.

My Crystal Ball Says: Ziggler picks up the win but not the belt, so DQ, count out, no contest or something like that. Then we save Ziggler’s eventual regaining of the belt for Summerslam, maybe in that long talked about triple-threat ladder match with Del Rio and Jack Swagger.

Jack Swagger, Antonio Cesaro, Damien Sandow, Cody Rhodes, Fandango, Wade Barrent, and Dean Ambrose - World Championship Money in the Bank Match

I think there’s going to be a lot going on in this match. First, I think that Team Rhodes Scholars will implode at some point. For months now, we’ve seen several instances of Sandow speaking and making decisions for Rhodes. And each time, Rhodes gives him this little look of annoyance. It’s been very subtle thus far, but what better venue to bring it to light then a match with such large implications? So, I think we can expect these two to really go at it and set up a feud. Now, as for who should win the briefcase? It’s hard to say. There’s so much young, excellent talent in this match that it could literally go to any of them. But with how red hot the Shield has been, I really wouldn’t be surprised if Dean Ambrose becomes the next Mr. Money in the Bank. But, as we all know, it’s not always the favorite who wins.

My Crystal Ball Says: Ambrose climbs to the top of that ladder and gets the title shot. However, my very next choice is Wade Barret. He’s waited long enough for his time.

Mark Henry vs. John Cena – WWE Championship Match

Mark Henry has been doing the best work of his career at 40. He’s been on such a roll for so long now. He really does deserve this match. No one should expect a technical match from these two, though. No, this will be a slow but hard-hitting fight. However, the big question is, does Cena drop the belt? This current title reign for him is very important because, since Cena really is larger than the title now, this should be one of his last times with it. So, whoever gets that belt next is going to get put over in a big way. Henry doesn’t need it. So…

My Crystal Ball Says: Cena retains, probably cleanly, and continues to wait for that special contender who will eventually end his (likely) penultimate title reign.

Sheamus, Christian, Randy Orton, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Rob Van Dam, ? – Money in the Bank All-Stars Match

This is the big one. There’s no doubt that this is going to be FILLED with excitement and memorable moments. I mean, we've already have the return of RVD to look forward to! And let’s not forget that we need a 7th participant now that the debuting Wyatt family has neutralized Kane. Will it be Bray Wyatt to take his place? Who knows? I actually don’t think it will be because I think they’re going to save his first match for as long as they can. But, no matter who takes the Big Red Machine’s place, I think it’s really safe to say that Daniel Bryan is getting that briefcase. He’s so fire hot right now that it would be foolish not to give it to him. But I definitely could see whoever this mystery participant is getting the contract if for nothing else than shock value. Whatever the outcome, this is sure to tear the roof down!

My Crystal Ball Says: Daniel Bryan ties with CM Punk for most Money in the Bank wins and continues down his path to main event mainstay much like Punk did a few years back. YES YES YES!
