Inside The Huddle: Previews and Predictions for All of the Games Going on Around the NFL in week 6!

by Donald "Duckie" McDermott

Pittsburgh Steelers at New York Jets

X’s and O’s: The Jets are 3-2 and the Steelers are coming off their bye week at 0-4, desperate for their first win of the season. The Jets are coming off a big win on the road in Atlanta on Monday night. The Steelers have rookie RB Bell back, and the Jets will be without their best cornerback, Antonio Cromartie.

Duckie’s Luckies: Steelers get their long-awaited first win.

Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs

X’s and O’s: Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor has been impressive, but the chiefs are one of the best stories in the league. After winning 2 games all last year, they are 5-0 this season and are getting it done on all sides. The defense is solid, Alex Smith is efficient, and Andy Reid makes a case for coach of the year every week.

Duckie’s Luckies: Chiefs roll to 6-0.

Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Bucs

X’s and O’s: After trading away starting QB Josh Freeman, the Bucs will be counting on rookie Mike Gannon to get the team’s first win of the year. The Eagles are dangerous with Michael Vick or Nick Foles under Center. They also have plenty of weapons to win, even on the road.

Duckie’s Luckies: Bucs drop to 0-6 at home.

Green Bay Packers at Baltimore Ravens

X’s and O’s: The Packers are a better team on the road, and this week they are without linebacker Clay Matthews. The Ravens are at home and coming off a win on the road in Miami last week. Both teams are pretty evenly matched, but I will still take Aaron Rodgers over Joe Flacco.

Duckie’s Luckies: Ravens get their wings clipped in Baltimore.

Detroit Lions at Cleveland Browns

X’s and O’s: Am I the only one who thinks it is amazing that the Browns have won three in a row after replacing their stating running back and their staring quarterback? The Lions will probably be without Calvin “Megatron” Johnson but are still dangerous on offense.

Duckie’s Luckies: Lions claw through Cleveland’s 3-game winning streak.

Carolina Panthers at Minnesota Vikings

X’s and O’s: Shaky quarterback play has been the root of the Vikings and Panthers' problems thus far. Josh Freeman waits to take over for the Vikings, while Carolina is counting on Cam Newton to turn things around. The Vikes will have star running back Adrian Peterson despite the tragic death of his two-year-old son.

Duckie’s Luckies: Vikings get an emotional win at home.

St. Louis Rams at Houston Texans

X’s and O’s: The Texans are in the middle of their roughest stretch in almost two seasons,in large part because of some seriously poor play from quarterback Matt Schaub. Coach Gary Kubiak is sticking with Schaub as the Texans try to avoid a fourth straight loss Sunday against the visiting St. Louis Rams.

Duckie’s Luckies: Texans bounce back big in Houston.

Cincinnati Bengals at Buffalo Bills

X’s and O’s: I am having trouble with the Bengals. They look great against teams like the Pats and the Packers, but lose to the Browns. This week they head to Buffalo to take on the Bills and QB Thad Lewis, who is making his first ever NFL start against a solid Bengals defense.

Duckie’s Luckies: Bills circle the wagons but can’t hold off the Bengals.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Denver Broncos

X’s and O’s: This may very well be the biggest mismatch of the year. The 0-5 Jaguars travel to Denver to face the 5-0 Broncos, leg by Peyton Manning and an offense that seems to score at will. They say that anything can happen on any given Sunday. Pretty sure they didn’t mean THIS Sunday.

Duckie’s Luckies: Broncos stampede over the Jags.

Arizona Cardinals at San Fransisco 49ers

X’s and O’s: Both teams have lost significant big names this season, and strong defensive performances have helped guide the Niners and the Cards to a 3-2 record through five games. The 49ers look for a fifth consecutive home victory over the Cardinals on Sunday in match-up of NFC West foes.

Duckie’s Luckies: Cards get folded in Frisco.

New Orleans Saints at New England Patriots

X’s and O’s: The Patriots are nowhere near the offensive powerhouse they once were. Tom Brady’s weapons have depleted and Gronk is expected to miss this one too. The Saints however, ARE an offensive powerhouse and I don’t think even Tom Brady can compete with Drew Brees in a shootout right now.

Duckie’s Luckies: Saints march out of NE at 6-0.

Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys

X’s and O’s: Redskins are coming off their bye week while the Cowboys nearly pulled off an upset against the Broncos a week ago. Romo threw for over 500 yards and 5 TDs but still came up short in the end. I think the Cowboys take out their frustrations on their visiting division rivals.

Duckie’s Luckies: Better to be a Cowboy than an indian this Sunday.

Indianapolis Colts at San Diego Chargers

X’s and O’s: If I had to pick the best team in the AFC I would say the Broncos, but the Colts are definitely a close second. Second year QB Andrew Luck has bested some big names this season and looks better and better each week. The Chargers are hot and cold as they come off a tough loss to the Raiders last week.

Duckie’s Luckies: Colts out shock the bolts on the road.
