Inside The Huddle: Previews and Predictions for All of the Games Going on Around the NFL in week 5!

by Donald "Duckie" McDermott

Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants

X’s and O’s: The Giants have suffered two devastating losses in a row on their way to an 0-4 start to the season. They are home at MetLife Stadium this week and there is no way they let arguably their most hated division rival drop them to 0-5.

Duckie’s Luckies: Finally. A Giant win for Big Blue.

Kansas City Chiefs at Tennessee Titans

X’s and O’s: The Titans are at home, but they are without starting quarterback Jake Locker. The Chiefs are not the Chiefs of old. The team that won only two games all of last season is 4-0 and looking for more. No reason why they shouldn’t get it.

Duckie’s Luckies: Chiefs roll to 5-0.

Baltimore Ravens at Miami Dolphins

X’s and O’s: The Dolphings exceeded expectations, starting the season 3-0. They came back to Earth last week against the Saints. I think the descent continues in week 5. Ravens QB Joe Flacco is looking to avenge a terrible five INT performance last week in an upset loss to the Bills.

Duckie’s Luckies: Ravens find a way to squish the fish.

Jacksonville Jaguars at St. Louis Rams

X’s and O’s: Not much to say. The Rams are at home, have talent, and need the win to stay in the playoff hunt in a very tight NFC. The Jags are the worst team in the NFL right now. They say that anything can happen in the NFL on any given Sunday. Maybe…..but not this Sunday.

Duckie’s Luckies: Jags get “rammed” for loss #5.

New England Patriots at Cincinnati Bengals

X’s and O’s: After nearly convincing fans and critics alike that they are for real, the Bengals dropped a tough one to the Browns last week. The Patriots have lost a bunch of starters already, but as long as they have Brady and Bellichick running the ship, it will be moving full steam ahead.

Duckie’s Luckies: Bengals get tamed by Brady & Co.

Seattle Seahawks at Indianapolis Colts

X’s and O’s: Both Seahawks QB Russell Wilson and Colts QB Andrew Luck were picked in the 2012 draft class. Both QBs also have their teams off to a good start, with the Colts at 3-1 and the Seahawks at 4-0 for the first time in Franchise history. When two teams match-up evenly…pick the home team.

Duckie’s Luckies: Colts ride to a narrow victory in Indy.

Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers

X’s and O’s: This is a really good match-up between division rivals in what is looking like a very tough NFC North. The Lions are 6-1 against Packer coach Mike McCarthy coming off a bye week, but it’s hard to imagine Matt Stafford, or anyone for that matter, out-dueling Aaron Rodgers at Lambeau Field.

Duckie’s Luckies: Lions crumble under the Pack Attack.

New Orleans Saints at Chicago Bears

X’s and O’s: Both teams have played well so far this season. The Saints are clicking on all cylinders on offense. The Bears defense is 30th in sacks and 26th against the pass. It could get ugly if Saints QB Drew Brees is given time to sit back and look for his receivers.

Duckie’s Luckies: Saints go marchin’ in for the win.

Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals

X’s and O’s: Carolina comes back fresh from their bye week following the most lopsided win in the team’s young history, a 38-0 win over the Giants. The Cardinals are quietly building a strong offensive nucleus with QB Carson Palmer, WR Larry Fitzgerald and RB Rashard Mendenhall.

Duckie’s Luckies: The Birds hold off the Cats in a close one

San Diego Chargers at Oakland Raiders

X’s and O’s: Chargers signal caller Philip Rivers has found new life, averaging nearly 300 yards and 3 TDs per game so far this season. Raiders starting QB Terrell Pryor is set to return after suffering a concussion, but head injuries always leave you wondering whether or not they are 100% ready to go.

Duckie’s Luckies: Raiders get “charged” by the bolts at home.

Denver Broncos at Dallas Cowboys

X’s and O’s: Right now there is no better quarterback in the NFL than Peyton Manning. He is coming off a 4-TD game last week and this week I expect his totals to increase. Also expect another big game from Wes Welker, who is quickly becoming Peyton’s favorite target. Think he misses New England? Me neither.

Duckie’s Luckies: Broncos gallop out of Big D at 5-0.

Houston Texans at San Fransisco 49ers

X’s and O’s: After being outscored 56-10 in back-to-back losses to Seattle and Indy, the Niners looked dominant in a 35-11 win at St. Louis on Sept. 26. The Texans may still be reeling from blowing a 17-point halftime lead against Seattle in last week’s crushing 23-20 overtime loss.

Duckie’s Luckies: Niners are finer at home.

New York Jets at Atlanta Falcons

X’s and O’s: Hoping to avoid a barrage of injuries, as well as the possibility of a third straight loss for the first time during the Matt Ryan era, the Falcons twill do their best to disrupt rookie QB Geno Smith on Monday night. The Jets are coming off an awful 38-13 rout on the road in Tennessee.

Duckie’s Luckies: Falcons soar just a little higher than a jet.
