Very unlikely but who knows considering that Billie Piper is confirmed to be part of the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who special. Right before the Tenth Doctor left Rose Tyler in Pete’s World, she said she resumed her job at the shop. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not, Doctor Who tends to make people think so many different ways about it. I would also like to add Martha Jones and Donna Noble to the list of potentials but it saddens me to say that we may never actually see them on Doctor Who again. Hopefully they will be part of the 50th anniversary special though.

NOTE from Jesse: I just wanted to say that I immediately thought of Rose when she mentioned a woman in the shop. One can hope!

River is without a doubt probably the biggest candidate right now seeing as she is the Doctor’s wife and might even know the Doctor’s TARDIS better than he does. Of course she would know that there’s a phone in there and what the number is. Plus, she has been traveling through all sorts of time and space herself so who knows when or where she might pop up to aid the Doctor and his friends.

I am considering this to be an option as they are the Doctor’s friends and knew would help him in any way he wishes, including finding Clara again. Seeing Vastra would probably scare Clara off so if it was them, Jenny would most likely be the one to actually give Clara the number. But I have my doubts on this too however, seeing as the last we saw of them, they were in Victorian London. Whether or not they can time travel as well or it was just the Doctor who brought them there is currently unknown.

Ah how I pray to God that it could be Amy. But this is quite the long shot itself. Amy as been referenced quite a bit so far after her departure. The Doctor said that he would never see Amy again if the Weeping Angel had sent her away and then we see on the tombstone say that Amy died at age 87… but it doesn’t say the year of her death. What if the Doctor meant he couldn’t see young Amy Pond again? He certainly went back in time to see young Amelia Pond again when she was just a little girl upon Amy’s request. The Woman in the shop might be an elderly Amy Pond giving Clara guidance and the number for help.

Before the Doctor met the 21st century Clara Oswald, she phoned him for help with her computer. The only problem with this though is… he’s in the year 1207. The Doctor even questioned Clara about how she got this number and she simply said that she got it from “the woman in the shop.”

Now the big question right now is… Doctor Who? No wait, my apologies, that is the first question that should never be answered. But who is the woman in the shop? Clara said that this man will help you with any problem you have in the whole universe. That personal connection must mean that this Woman is an old friend the Doctors. However, the Doctor doesn’t seem to make things easy seeing as the Woman could be anybody considering that he has a big influence on his companions as most of them are… well, women. But it has to be someone he knows, and trust completely. Let’s go through the list of suspects. You may submit your own theories if you have more to say or would like to add someone else to the pool of suspects.
