Happy Friday everyone! And a very happy start to your Memorial Day weekend as well. My illustrious boss gave us both today AND Monday off, so that’s a pretty good start right there if you ask me. The weather is lousy and I will be doing my second job all weekend long, BUT lets not dwell on the negative, shall we? On a positive note, I started the morning off with a 2.5 mile run. That puts me at 12.5 for the week so far. Pretty cool. Only 5.5 to go to hit my goal of 18 for this week…I got this. I used my day off to take care of a lot of those personal errands that we don’t get a chance to do during the regular work week.
Had some work done on my trusty mini-van. Went food shopping, paid the eye doctor a visit (seriously thinking about contacts for the summer), helped a good friend out with a few things, etc. Not a whole lotta glitz and glamour, but it all had to be done. And I would rather be busy than bored any day of the week. Friday is also one of my days of the week with my beautiful and totally amazing daughter Meghan…so the start of the holiday weekend is even MORE exciting for me personally. Meg and I attempted to ignore the weather today as we ventured out together in an attempt to enjoy the Brookhaven Fair.
It's a big-deal annual family festival that is only about ten minutes from where we live. We stayed for about two hours, which is better than nothing…I guess. A lot of the rides weren’t opened because of the rain. Ditto for the food and drink stations. Something about the water pressure and the electricity. Well we tried at least. Sometimes that’s all you can do. We picked up Boston Market for dinner and ate together here at the Casa De La McDermott. Not exactly the day or night either of us had in mind. But I got my run in today, had a productive afternoon, and any time that Meghan and I get to enjoy together is a good time. Things could be a lot worse.
Until tomorrow!
