A Life Worth Weighting For - May 23rd, 2013 by Donald McDermott

I decided to change things up a little today. And I think I might have hit upon a formula that will work pretty well for me. I like getting my run in early in the morning. It’s a good way to sort of jump start my metabolism for the day. Plus, I don’t know about you. But I have found that the later in the day I wait to go out for a jog, the less I want to go and do it. So it is easier to not even think about it…just head out nice and early and get it out of the way. The change I decided to make is towards the end of the day. My goal is to get in a run to start the day and then follow it up with a workout at then end of the day. I would really like to get to my goal weight by the end of the summer. This sounds like the perfect way to attain that goal.

To keep things interesting at night so I don’t get bored with the same old routine every single day…not to mention a good way to sort of keep my body guessing…I am alternating my workout routines. Last night I put on a kickboxing DVD and ended up with an hour of hard work and sweat (it was fun too). Tonight I mixed in 100 cardio reps (sit ups, push ups, leg extensions and squats) with more than 250 reps with light weights. Felt really good when all was said and done…and I think that is going to be the new formula for me. Cardio DVD workout one night, weights the next night. It’s a lot more intersting to me to keep changing things up. Hopefully my body feels the same way.

Until tomorrow!
