A Life Worth Weighting For - May 22nd, 2013 by Donald McDermott

I think I am really starting to get the hang of this two workouts a day thing. I’m sure there will be days where I am not able to get in both. But for right now it is becoming part of my daily routine again…and I am enjoying it. Well, ENJOY my not be the right word for it exactly. Lol. But I feel like I am getting a lot out of it. I started out the day with a 2.5 mile jog. Still taking it really slow because it was another pretty humid day….which is why I didn’t refer to it as a “run.” I have to say that the best part of me beating my feet every day has become the three things I treat myself to right after. A looooong hot shower, a tall glass of iced-t, and a few minutes cooling off in front of the fan. I started doing that about a week or so ago….and it may be the one part of my day where I am TRULY relaxed.
As far as the rest of today goes, I haven’t had much of an appetite lately. Which is kinda cool when you’re trying to lose weight. In the past if I was going through something emotional the solution would always be to eat something….anything….and as much of it as possible. Now that I am working from home all day that concept scared me to death. So I am really trying to limit what I eat and be smart about it for a change. Started the day off with scrambled eggs and cheese (fat free) and a side of rye toast (needed a change from whole wheat). For lunch it was chicken salad on whole wheat (glad I went with rye for breakfast) and a small caesar salad. For dinner, two small chicken cutlets (baked of course), with a side of brown rice and some red beans.
It was okay all the way around….none of it spectacular. Like I said, I really don’t have much of an appetite these days. I feel like I am eating cuz I have to…not really cuz I want to. I used to find a lot of comfort in food. But I would end up paying for it later on…physically and emotionally. Glad at least some things have changed for me. Aaaaaanyway….away from the emotional and back to the physical. I ended the night with a good solid cardio workout down in the man cave. I threw on my old Kempo X DVD from the P90X series. An hour of nothing but fast paced punching and kicking. I was SOAKED when it was done. Feeling good though. And now I am going to top things off with a good, long night’s sleep. Hope your “Hump Day” was a good one too.
Until tomorrow!
