Okay, so here is the dilemma that I was facing today. At the start of the week I challenged myself to jog fifteen miles total between Monday and Sunday…today. As of Friday I had proudly clocked in 11 miles, and with two days left and just four miles to go I was feeling pretty confident. UNFORTUNATELY, due to circumstances beyond my control, I wasn’t able to get my run in yesterday. So I woke up this morning…the last day of my week…still stuck at eleven. Now my initial reaction to that was “okay, no big deal.” I will just run my usual two and finish with 13 for the week.” That’s PRETTY good…I guess (love saying that).
And I will still have jogged six out of the seven days this week. Well I have to tell you…missing a day of pounding the pavement outside my house yesterday was out of my control, but today certainly isn’t. I decided to head out for my run a little bit later than usual, as the sun was settling. Figuring I would be better off if it wasn’t quite so warm out. I am happy to report that I got a nice slow pace and cruised to four miles! Oh yeah…and did I mention it was raining? Whoooo hoooooo. It is a really good feeling to surprise yourself once in awhile. Especially at my age…lol. My legs are semi-cramped, my back is a little stiff, but once again I hit my goal of 15 for the week. That is something that no pain can take away from me.
Definitely a good day. Before the run I was with Meghan in Astoria (again). We hooked up with some family and friends for brunch…at….you guessed it….Cronins. Say what you will about us being creatures of habit, but to me it’s as much about the company as it is the food…both of which were great by the way. And now I am off to get some work done on the computer. My original plan was to head downstairs and get a good, solid workout in on top of my milestone run. I may be stuck on the computer for awhile tonight though…plus I think my back and legs will appreciate the break. Have a good night all…hope you had a good weekend too!
Until tomorrow!
