A Life Worth Weighting For - May 16th & 17th, 2013 by Donald McDermott

a little bit tighter every night.
Man these days are flying by lately. The fact that my head just hasn’t been where it should be certainly doesn’t help. It’ll get there though…I guess. Lol. Anyway, I fell a few days behind on the blogs so I am doubling up on Thursday and Friday. Sorry about that. Life gets in the way sometimes. The good thing about Thursday AND Friday for me though, is that they are very similar in the best possible way. On both days I was able to get in my runs early in the day…and then pushed myself to get in a workout at night. Those are the kinds of days I have been longing for. My goal for this week is 15 miles. I had done two miles a days on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. So on Thursday and Friday…
…I pushed just a little bit harder and got in 2.5 miles each day. That leaves me at 11 miles done with two days left. Pretty cool. Think I may up the ante a little bit next week too. Thursday and Friday I also have Meghan with me…which makes those days even cooler. After Meggy fell asleep I headed downstairs to the man cave. I put the season finales of The Big Bang Theory and Elementary on in the background while I banged out some cardio (mostly sit-ups and push-ups) on the mats, followed by more than 200 reps with light weights. I know it might not be doing much for me just yet when the weight is that light, but it still feels good to be lifting again at all. And ya know what? Anything you are doing is better than doing nothing.
Oh yeah, and in case you’ve never seen it, spend your summer catching up on Elementary. Johnny Lee Miller is a modern day Sherlock Holmes, helping the NYPD solve crimes. Lucy Liu (so hot!) is his “sidekick” Watson. I have always been a fan of the Arthur Conan Doyle stories, and my parents were always watching the old Basil Rathbone black and white movies when I was growing up. Not always a big fan of the “old story with a modern day twist” thing, but this show definitely hits the mark. Speaking of hitting the mark, it’s time for me to hit the sack. The toughest part of my routine has always been making sure that I get enough sleep. I don’t always achieve that goal unfortunately…but I’ll always keep trying.
Until tomorrow!
