- Do something today that your future self will thank you for.
Well another weekend is in the books and here we are at Monday once again. That means that the scale was waiting for me bright and early today. Hopped on as soon as I got up (I didn’t really hop, it’s just an expression) and am happy to report that I lost another half-pound. Pretty cool. I really thought that I would be dropping weight faster by now. Especially since I added daily runs into my routine. But ya know what? Losses are losses. And I am not planning on going anywhere anytime soon…so however long it takes me to get down to my goal weight is just fine with me. Started the day out with egg whites with cheese and an english muffin. Right before lunch I went for a two-mile jog. I was happy to hit my goal of jogging 15 miles last week. I thought about upping the ante to 18 this week.
But I think I am going to stay with 15 for at least one more week. Definitely enjoying my runs so far though. They clear my mind (which is much needed lately) AND they make me feel pretty good physically too. Made myself a pretty good caesar salad with grilled chicken for lunch, then after work I headed into Queens for my weekly visit with mom and dad. My mom was happy to have me two days in a row. She said that to ME anyway, but when my dad asked her who came to see her yesterday for Mother’s Day, she said no one. Was she being a wise-ass (totally believable for mom) OR was it dementia caused by the stroke? Your guess is as good as mine. Oh well, she seemed happy to see me, I was happy to be there, and my dad appreciated the company at least.
Afterwards we made our weekly trip to Cronin’s for dinner (dad and I). I realized not too long ago that my dad is the person I have always wanted to impress the most in my life. It’s an approval I probably won’t ever get unfortunately….just not his way. BUT…I have to say that hanging with him every week seems to have brought us closer together…and definitely means a lot to me too. Just a shame as to WHY we have been brought together every week. And that was pretty much my day. Back home in the house now, getting some work done, trying hard to stay awake. Things have been pretty draining for me on an emotional level lately…for a variety of different reasons (that I won’t be getting into). So I am going to try and crash out now. Looking forward to a good, solid night’s sleep…hopefully.
Until tomorrow!
