Hoooooooo boy.

I have always said that I would rather be busy than bored any day of the week. But it gets kinda ridiculous when it’s EVERY day of the week. For most people, the start of the weekend signals the time to slow down and relax. For me (and a lot of you out there I am sure), it signals the only time to get all of the stuff done that you weren’t able to tackle during the week. That’s pretty much how its been for me. All of a sudden it’s Sunday morning, I have no blogs written for the weekend, and I am looking around trying to figure out where my days keep escaping to. I will tell you a very cool little story about Friday though. Picked Meghan up off the school bus around 3:30pm. We had a few hours to kill before her weekly church class started. So we took advantage of the beautiful spring weather.

We headed over to Subway and got a couple`a sandwiches (probably the ONLY “fast food” place you will ever catch me in)….a strawberry smoothie for Meg and a fresh iced-t for me from the Dunkin' Donuts next door…and then we headed off to the Holtzville Ecology Center (where we do our walks on Saturdays). We walked a mile around the center together, then took our food from the car and had dinner in the picnic area. We had the place to ourselves pretty much. I don’t know that I have ever had a truly PERFECT moment in my life before…but this one was really close. After we were done with our picnic dinner, we played at the park for about a half hour and then I took her to her class.

Let me tell you, as busy as I have been lately, and as down as I can get on myself at times…that experience was really simple…and too cool for words. On Saturday, Meg and I started the morning off by having our neighbors over for breakfast in honor of two special birthdays. I got up early and sliced up bananas, strawberries and peaches. Then I made pancakes, biscuits, and bacon (ugh….at the birthday boy’s request…vile stuff). Have to say it was lookin' good folks….presentation is big for me. Sometimes I don’t know whether to eat it or frame it…lol. Don’t worry though. As good as it smelled, I stuck with a simple egg and cheese omelette with whole wheat toast on the side for myself. Made sure to keep an eye on Meggy too. After breakfast Meg got to run around with the kids for awhile…which is always fun to see….and then we went for our usual Saturday walk.

Which was MUCH needed after breakfast. As for me, I had softball practice in the early afternoon, followed by two games in which I pulled a muscle in my right leg during my first at-bat, and then had a line-drive hit my left leg later on. I am sooooo hobblin’ like an old man right now. Ouch, ouch, ouch. We lost both games by the way. Still fun to be playing again though…and we’re getting there. When the dust finally cleared and the throbbing settled down it was time to go home and sleep right? Ummmmm…..no. Job number two is still going on. So I dropped Meg with her mom (always breaks my heart) and then drove around the city for nearly 8 hours. Dragged myself, battered and bruised, through my front door as the sun was coming up in Medford around 5:45am. Collapsed on the couch…still in my softball jersey and all from the day before….and was asleep before I hit the cushions.

Until tomorrow!
