A Life Worth Weighting For - April 18th, 2013 by Donald McDermott

YAAAAAWWWWWWN!

What a day. Recently we had a shake-up or two at work. This caused all of us to step up and take on more responsibility. Hey, whatever needs to be done, right? Well because of that…coupled with the fact that I took a pretty long break in the middle of the day yesterday to make an old man happy (lol)….I was up til around 3am getting ready for the work day today. I got the job done…somehow I always do…but maaaaaan am I beat. And beiing up so late last night means that I eased up and took things nice and slow today, right? Ha ha ha ha…silly human. I got a little boost of motivation this morning…along with a tiny bit of panic since I haven’t gotten much exercise in over the past few days.

So at lunchtime today I pushed myself to get out the door and go for a quick jog. Nothing fancy…but it beats sitting in the chair in my home office. Hoofed it on down to Meghan’s old school and back. Mile and a quarter in total…burned off 175 calories according to the Endomondo app on my phone. Whipped up a caesar salad with chicken for lunch when I got back (sometimes I don’t know whether to eat em or frame em – lol)…and less than an hour later I was right in front of my computer again. Thursdays kick off my days of the week with Meghan too…WHOOOO HOOOO! So through the afternoon I did all I could the help put the latest editions of PARENTGUIDE to bed, picked Meggy up off the school bus…

…and headed over to Huntington Learning Center for her weekly tutoring session. Trust me when I tell you, there’s nothing a 9 year-old loves more after being in school all day, than MORE school. Ha ha ha ha. Actually, Meg is pretty good about it.. Got home and whipped up a little meat loaf (Meg loves it) with roasted potatoes and veggies for dinner. Then it was on to a little quality time with my girl before getting her off to bed. Definitely a full day. They have been flyyyyin’ by this week for me. Staying positive and productive though. That’s about all we can do. A very wise friend of mine once told me that the only two things we can control in life are our actions and our attitude. Might as well make the best of both of them.

Until tomorrow!
