A Life Worth Weighting For - April 14th, 2013 by Donald McDermott
Okay, so right off the bat let me just say that today was really cool for two reasons. First off, on top of my regular Saturdays, I get to spend one Sunday a month with Meghan all to myself. Today was that day….and it really doesn’t get much cooler than that if you ask me. BUT…cooler it did get….believe it or not. And that is because we gathered a few of our closest family and friends into Cronin’s (it’s really all about Cronin’s for me, I know) today for a brunch in honor of my dad’s impending 62nd birthday. Luckily for me it happened to fall on one of those rare Sundays where I have Meg, so my dad got to spend his birthday brunch with his granddaughter…definitely a cool moment.
I took Meghan to church first thing in the morning….then we headed right in to Queens for brunch. After thoroughly enjoying my california turkey burger (no bun…..but avocado and fresh salsa on the side….yum!) and a few laughs too, Meg and I drove my dad to work out at Kennedy airport. Definitely a good way to spend the afternoon. I have been blessed with a really good group, close-knit group of family and friends…and we don’t get together enough nowadays if you ask me. No one really ever asks me…but it’s still true…lol. After heading back to Long Island and dropping the Meg-Monster off with her mom, I drove AAAALLLL the way BACK into Queens to hook up with my fellow Calling All Nerds creators, Jesse and Cody, for a podcast with our buddy John The Doorman at Who’s On First in Flushing.
A cool little collectibles store for anyone out there who may love comics, sports, toys and all things fun. This week’s podcast didn’t go QUITE the way I thought it would…and to be honest with ya…I made the long trip back to Long Island with a bit of a headache. Hey, they’re not all going to be gems folks…I understand that. The important thing is that we did another one…it’s all about trying new things and moving forward. Sadly, I am going to skip my evening workout for a shot at a good night’s sleep. It has been a long weekend…..with a lot of driving….a lot of running around….and a little more driving…lol. Want to be really well rested when I tackle the scale in the morning. So g’nite all. Hope you had a fun and productive weekend too!
Until tomorrow!
