A Life Worth Weighting For - April 12th, 2013 by Donald McDermott

Happy Friday all! Hope today is the start of a great weekend for everyone. I was very happy to wake up this morning and realize it is Friday once again. Ever do that thing where you wake up thinking it’s Saturday…and it’s actually only Monday. Ewwwwww….that’s a rough way to start off your week. But today is actually Friday…and while a lot of people out there might see it as the kind of day where you can start to slow down, relax and unwind from the week that was….I try to turn things up a notch on Fridays. See for me, Friday means that the scale is only a couple of very short days away. And since I never want the scale to win our little weekly head-on collision, Friday is a reminder to me that it’s time to start getting those meals right…and to start getting those workouts in.

Aside from that…my adorable yet mischievous daughter Meghan decided that it would be cool to sign daddy up to play softball for our local church. Hoo boy. It’s been quite awhile since I played in a league….and apparently God will be watching these games too. Talk about pressure to perform…lol. My very first official game is tomorrow night…and it’s a double-header to boot. So being in shape for my games every week sure wouldn’t hurt.  Therefore, I started today off with a run….well, a jog. Dropped Meggy off at school this morning…..got home…..jogged a quick mile and a half to the school and back…and was sitting in the chair in my home office, ready to start the day before the clock struck 9:30am. Pretty cool if I do say so myself.  Got it in just under the wire too….

….because it started POURING not long after I got back. Doesn’t look like it is going to stop any time soon either. Good timing…..cuz while jogging in the rain is said to build character…..it’s not exactly my favorite thing to do. Had a good day at the table too, by the way. Started the morning off with some oatmeal with sliced bananas. Good protein, warm belly….YUM! Made a turkey sandwich with light mayo and tomato for lunch….some fresh fruit on the side. And for dinner…salmon over white rice…black beans with salsa on the side. BIG TIME YUUUUM! Meghan had chicken….because while she has tasted fish in the past and actually enjoyed it….there is something inside her that just shuts down when she hears the word FISH at the dinner table. Oh well….more for me I guess!

Until tomorrow!
