A Life Worth Weighting For - April 6th, 2013 by Donald McDermott

YAAAAWWWWNNNN!

Man, whoever it was that first coined the phrase, “no rest for the weary” sure wasn’t kidding. I am beat up from the feet up, tore up from the floor up…and oh yeah….a wreck up from the neck up. Lol. Okay, so maybe I am exaggerating a LITTLE….but not much. We got home from the PWS show late last night. Meghan got to sleep in the car all the way back. Unfortunately for me, pretty much everyone frowns upon sleeping while you’re driving…so I wasn’t as lucky. I got a couple uncomfortable hours of sleep at the foot of my daughter Meggy’s bed. She was tired and irritable and didn’t want me to leave her…and of course I didn’t. So Meg and I were up at the crack of dawn today. Well the crack of 9am anyway. Still early for us on a Saturday.

Meghan and I headed out for our regular two mile walk at the Holzville Ecology Center. She is a trooper. Soooooo wanted to be ANYWHERE besides out for a walk on a windy morning. A Saturday morning no less. But she did it. We did it together. That is always all that matters. We had just enough time to go food shopping after the walk. Then I set Meggy up for a playdate while I went to softball practice for our local church. Meghan figured if she had to play, I should too. So my little girls signed me up. Of course she decided the other day that she doesn’t want to play softball at all anymoore, but what can ya do? So after walking two miles and then chasing meg around a park all morning….

….on very little sleep….I played softball for nearly three hours. Needless to say I am reeaaaally sore right now. Think I might have pulled a leg muscle too. Stinks to get old…lol. But the double workouts on Saturday are definitely needed and appreciated. The other good thing about today is that I was pretty much running around all day and didn’t get to eat much of anything. Hung out with some good friends for a mini-bbq after softball. Chowing down on caesar salad and grilled chicken…fyi. Now I am home again. Listening to Meghan snore away while I chat with you folks. I am definitely ready to get a little shut-eye myself though….soon too. Mornings come early around here. I am looking forward to whatever the day may bring…I’ll be ready for it…alive and alert.

Until tomorrow!
