A Life Worth Weighting For - March 28th, 2013 by Donald McDermott
Today was kind of a cool day for me on a few different levels. First off, Thursday is my first full day with Meghan each week. That is always awesome! Second, I started off the morning with a breakfast meeting featuring my boss and two awesome assistant editors and great people in general. And believe me when I tell ya, it wasn’t the egg whites and cheese with wheat toast I had that made it awesome either. See, my office closed down a few months back. We all get to work from home now. A dream come true for most…a little awkward and lonely for me. So it was great to have us all together again after far too long. Got back to Long Island with JUST enough time to pick Meg up from her camp program this week. Had to run home and change her….because it was pajama day…and she couldn’t go out in big, comfy red fleece pants with hearts all over em.
Although she totally would have…lol. So while Meg was changing, I made a turkey and cheese sandwich on honey wheat with lettuce and tomato for lunch….grabbed a small yogurt and a granola bar for the ride…and we headed out for a loooooong overdue playdate with Meggy’s cousins. Riley and Emily….ages 5 and almost 4 respectively. Two of the sweetest, most beautiful little girls you have ever seen. Needless to say they had a great time together. My parents were always big on pushing the importance of spending time with family while my brother, my sister and I were growing up. So opportunities like today always mean a lot to me. Hoping that today’s meeting was the first of many more to come now that spring looks like it is finally ready to sit down and stay awhile.
Meghan had pizza with her little cousins while they were together. I on the other hand, waited til I got home to chow down on chichen, a little bit of steamed rice and some mixed veggies. Not the greatest meal in the world, but it got me there. And speaking of getting home….I found the latest issue of Steelers Digest waiting for me in my mailbox when we got back. I am a rabid Pittsburgh Steelers fan (that’s football for those of you who might not know – lol)…and anytime a copy of S.D. shows up it is like a late Christmas present for me! YAAAAAAWWWWWNNN…..long couple of days. I am still in the fight as always though. Heading down the steps to the mancave for something that resembles a workout….followed by some much needed sleep. G’nite all!
Until tomorrow!
