A Life Worth Weighting For - March 25th, 2013 by Donald McDermott

I have said in the past that these blogs aren’t JUST about me sharing the steps (the good ones AND the bad ones) in my own personal quest to become a happier and healthier person. They are also to inform you on just about anything and everything that happens to tickle my fancy. And yes….I just used the term “tickle my fancy.” WHAT!?! But anyway, I was out working til the wee hours of the morning last night and didn’t get to see the latest installment of The Walking Dead. Caught up on it today…the last episode before the season finale…and all I can say is WOW! If you’re a fan then you know how powerful the episode’s last scene was. And how Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) totally made it that powerful. If you’re NOT a fan of the show…what is wrong with you? Lol.

Seriously though, there are not a lot of shows on TV I will go out of my way to watch anymore. The Walking Dead is definitely one of those shows. The third season comes to a close next week. That gives you probably six months or show to catch up on three seasons before the new season begins. Get started on Netflix. AMC always has re-runs and marathons too. Trust me…you won’t regret it. Soooooo…….hmmmmmm……what else, what else? Oh yeah….ME! Sometimes my train of thought just rolls right off the tracks. I hit the couch at 4am this morning and was up again at 8 o’clock. Meghan is off from school this week and I got to take her to her mini-camp program. Made sure to hop on the scale before we headed out the door though. Lost another pound this week.

To be honest, a lot of weeks it would infuriate me to work hard for seven days only to lose one little pound. This week I will take it. I said the other day that I really wasn’t feelin’ it this week. Wasn’t pushing as hard as I should have in either the food choices or exercise areas….which are both pretty important to someone trying to lose weight. Do I will take one pound as a win. And winning every week….even by one point…is always the key. What I WON’T do is become complacent. I fell off the motivation train a little (or a lot) this past week…but it is time to get back on. I have been down this road before and know that while I am still losing…I can definitely be doing better. That new chapter starts tonight. For right now….I am one pound closer to my goal. Hope you’re all having a good start to the week too (and go watch the Walking Dead!).

Until tomorrow!
