A Life Worth Weighting For - March 19th, 2013  by Donald McDermott

Wow! Now of course I put the date and the day right at the top of each one of my posts…but it just dawned on me as I started writing today’s entry that this is already the thirtieth day on this brand new life journey of mine. Ergo, my thirtieth entry as well. Pretty cool if you ask me…even though no one ever does…lol. If nothing else, it means that I have been consistent in coming up with something to write for thirty consecutive days. That in itself is quite a feat for someone who can be as easily distracted or as easily dejected as me. And of course, in the end there will be a LOT more to all of  this than just a number of consecutive days. But that will be a story for another time. For today…on with the blog.

I am not trying to jinx myself here, but I have to say that things have been going pretty well for me lately. If anyone out there is reading this and is struggling with your own stuff…whatever it may be…and you are wondering if it is worth it to get started…let me just offer up a quick piece of advice from personal experience. Getting yourself right where food choices and exercise is concerned offers a lot more benefits to you than just better health. You will find yourself being more organized, thinking more clearly, and feeling better not just about yourself, but about things in general. In the past week I have gotten myself on a bit of a cleaning kick. A wise old trainer and friend of mine once told me….

….that if you start to get yourself together on the inside (like eating right and exercising), you will slowly start to see yourself getting things together on the outside as well. So now along with my recent weight loss and positive attitude, I have a clean house too. That’s always a good thing. Also good about today was the physical side of things. I had to drop off something for Meg at school this afternoon, so I decided to walk there and back. Then after dinner I went for a quick mile jog (quick might not be the right word though…lol) and then headed down to the man cave for some simple core and cardio work on the mats. Now I will be crawling into bed feeling tired and sleepy…but also accomplished too. Have a good night!

Until tomorrow!
