I am very happy to report that today has been a very productive day. Thanks to a women-only banquet at our local church, Meg is with Lori today and I found myself with a rare Saturday to myself. Now I thought about heading into my old Queens stomping grounds to hang with all of the crazies who were out celebrating St. Paddy’s Day already. But that thought only hung around for about a minute or so…luckily. Instead I thought it might be better to actually try and get some stuff done. That started with me putting on some comfy old sweats, lacing up my trust running shoes, and heading over to the Ecology Center out here for my Saturday morning run. If you weren’t aware, Meghan and I participate in a group walk every Saturday.
It’s about a mile around the entire place…not too far from my house…and the goal is to get Meghan to walk two full laps without anyone getting hurt. Lol. But since I was on my own today, I decided to forget walking and get a jog in. There’s a few 5K’s I would really like to take part in this spring and summer…so getting my legs back under me is a must. I pushed myself, found a nice easy pace, and jogged three miles. Totally forgot what that felt like…it’s been awhile. For anyone who doesn’t know, there is a euphoric, light-headed, “floaty” feeling your body gets after a good long run. Basically it’s all of the pleasures of being drunk or high…but without the hangover and blackout moments. AND it’s reeeeaaallly good for you!
I got back in my car, feeling good about myself. At that moment I decided to use my morning accomplishment as a stepping stone for the day. I spent the rest of my “free” Saturday sorting through pictures and cleaning my house. Oh yeah, and just for kicks I decided to re-tile the kitchen floor. Can’t WAIT for Meghan to see it tomorrow, Came out pretty good if I do say so myself. It has needed a makeover for awhile now. But seriously…don’t we all need a good makeover once in awhile? Small steps first. Today the kitchen, tomorrow…anything is possible! Right now I’m pretty beat. Tired after a long day, but feelin’ good knowing that I can put my head down on my pillow feeling accomplished and deserving of a good nights sleep.
Hope it’s a Great Weekend so Far…Be Safe!
And since so many people seem to be celebrating already, Happy St. Patrick’s Day a day early!
