Okay, so yesterday’s run at Astoria Park was pretty brutal. Never would have guessed that today would be even WORSE. Note to self….maybe when it is 90 degrees out and the humidity feels like it’s at 1,000%…you don’t go for your run during the hottest park of the day. Oh well, live and learn I guess. As long as you’re still alive to keep on learning, I guess it’s not so bad. Anyway, today was the first time that I actually wasn’t able to do my entire run without stopping.

I jogged my first two miles, then had to take a quick little breather. Walked a little, caught my breath, had a little water. Then I pressed on and finished my third mile. I know that it’s probably not as good for me benefits-wise as if I had run the whole thing all at once. But trust me when I tell you, the sun was beating down one me, and the air felt so thick that it felt like you could cut yourself a slice of it. I wasn’t thrilled to stop and take the rest, but under the circumstances it definitely seemed like the smarter move to me. I have a feeling getting my runs in this summer is going to be pretty tough.

Any-hoo, after coming home to take an invigorating cold shower (YEE-OWTCH!), I made myself as presentable as all this gets and headed into Astoria. Stopped in to see mom and then had dinner with dad just like any other Monday. There was an amazing fireworks display tonight at Astoria Park. What the occasion was I do not know. In Astoria we will blow stuff up and set things on fire just for the fun of it…lol. So my dad and I swung by a friend’s house and we all watched the show from the comfort of her 14th floor balcony window. Definitely a great display and a fun night. Wish Meghan could have seen it!

Until tomorrow!
