A Life Worth Weighting For - June 18th, 2013 by Donald McDermott
- Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.
This is just kind of a minor thing, but I thought it was worth mentioning and it slipped my mind during yesterday’s blog entry. Last night I met Meghan and her mom over at Meggy’s school. They were celebrating the end of the school year with a bbq and party in the school’s giant backyard. Everyone was entitled to a burger, hot dog, bag of chips and a drink (I passed). They had kids playing kickball, football and playing on their two playgrounds. There was also a DJ who encouraged the kids to dance and play games.
Thought it was a really cool way to keep kids moving after school while bringing the community together. Not enough places do that anymore. Like I said…just thought it was worth mentioning. Any-hoo, because I was at Meg’s school from 6-8pm on Monday, I didn’t get to make my usual rounds with the family in Astoria. So today I got all of my PARENTGUIDE work done during the day, knocked out my three mile jog, prettied myself up as best as I could, and headed into Queens. Took FOREVER to get there today. Oy Freakin Vey! What is it about a little bit of rain that turns people into the worst drivers EVER???
Got to see mom for a little while but probably not long enough. Then headed over to Cronin’s for a light dinner with dad. After dropping the Matriarch of the McDermott Family off at home, I ran a couple of errands, saw a few old friends, and headed on home to my house…the big empty. Lol. Was hoping to head down to the man cave for a quick workout before bed. Unfortunately, I got home later than I wanted to and I am beat. At least I got my run in for the day….no one can take that away from me. Tomorrow is another day.
Until tomorrow!
