A Life Worth Weighting For - June 16th, 2013 by Donald McDermott

First off, I know it’s the end of the day as I am typing this out, but let me just wish a VERY Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads out there…and to all of the moms who have to be dads too. Hope you all had a great day…I know I definitely did. After cruising the mall on Friday, then passing through Queens, New Jersey and the south end of Long Island yesterday, Meghan and I figured the only place left to go today was Manhattan! Lol. I actually got tickets from work to see the Blue Man Group down in the village. Always wanted to see that show, but the make up freaks out Meg’s mom…so we never went. So after leaving church, Meghan and I stopped at SUBWAY and got a sandwich to share and some drinks.
Then we hopped in my trusty white mini-van (hiyo Silver!) and headed for the big city. It was a really cool show….loved the company I was in most of all….and definitely had a good Father’s Day. Meggy also bought me a DVD (12 Rounds 2 starring Randy Orton from the WWE) and a nice card. Love that kid so much it isn’t even funny. The absolute best part of my day was when we were first getting in the car. We were laughing about the past few days and out of nowhere Meghan says “thank you.” I asked her what for and she goes, “for being my dad.” Yeeeeeeaaaaaah……totally melted me. That kid is sooo gonna play me like a fiddle…lol. After the show we headed back to the Island where I had to drop her back with her mom (ugh).
Saying goodbye to Meghan, especially after such a great weekend, is always the hardest thing for me. Got back to the house here at around 6pm. Decided to take advantage of the time on my own and double up on my workout for the day. The one thing I haven’t had time to do lately. So I started off with my final 3-mile run of the week….topping the 21-mile mark for the 3rd straight week in a row. Then I headed straight downstairs for a fine mix of cardio and light weights. Took a nice long shower after, made a simple dinner (sandwich and a salad). And now, totally feeling the effects of a long weekend with a lot of running around, I think it is time for me to call it a night. Hope you all had a good weekend too!
Until tomorrow!
