Well all good things have to come to an end as they say. Remember how excited I was for the past weekend and everything that had gone on over the past few days? Sadly that all came to a screeching halt when I found out that a dear friend and awesome person had passed away. So this morning I got up bright and early to start the work day from my home office. Right around noon I went out for my daily three mile run, which happily has become a part of my normal routine at this point. From there I headed into Queens for a sad early dinner in the back of Cronin’s. My sister and I hooked up with some of our favorite old friends….people who over the past few decades have become so much more than friends to us.

We were all asked to bring in pictures of Janie Waters….a very special friend and person. We were getting ready to head to her wake…and we all sat around first telling stories, looking through photos and bringing up great old memories. I have told this story many times before, but more then 20 years ago my brother, my sister and I….all of us underage and inexperienced (mostly – lol)…walked through the door of a local bar name Purcells. We discovered a very tight knit group of people who were not that comfortable around strangers. But instead of shunning us and pushing us out the door, we were embraced and made part of a family that we are still a very proud part of all these years later. Janie was one of the first people to open up to us.

Since then I am proud to say that I have seen her daughter grow from a child into a beautiful woman and mom. I’ve also had the pleasure of watching her grandkids play with my daughter. It was a very emotional day. R.I.P. Janie. I know you’re in a good, pain-free place now and you will be missed every day…love ya! I would also like to wish Happy Birthdays to two other old friends. Little Chris Liatto and Lynn Burkhardt. Hope you guys had a good day…wish it was a more festive atmosphere for ya right now. And last but NEVER least, congratulations to my sister on a very special anniversary for her. The occasion is her own business, but I couldn’t be happier and more proud of her. You Go Girl…..wishing you many more years to come!

Until tomorrow!
