A Life Worth Weighting For - June 9th, 2013 by Donald McDermott

            - The only exercise some people get is jumping to conclusions, running down friends, side-stepping responsibility, and pushing their luck!

I had the great pleasure to be a part of something truly special today. It was one of those moments that gives you a tremendous sense of pride, but makes you feel totally old at the same time. After spending the morning in church with my own daughter Meghan, I found myself in ANOTHER church with ANOTHER Meagan…lol. Today, a dear old friend of mine and my family, miss Meagan Roberts (Corrigan now) christened her little girl Julianna Elizabeth at St. Joseph’s Church in Astoria, Queens.

Meagan is an AWESOME person who I have no doubt will be an equally awesome mom. Her family and mine has been intertwined for decades now and I can’t even begin to express how happy I am for her, her mom Liz, her grandmother (Mrs. Gavin rocks!), and of course for Meagan herself. The christening was great, the celebration after was even greater, and I truly consider myself lucky to have been a part of it. Thanks and congrats again!!! After an unforgettable day of celebration in my old Queens stomping grounds….

….I got back to my Long Island homestead with enough time left in the day to take care of some business. Namely, lacing up the running shoes and heading out for my run. It wasn’t easy tonight. I will admit that. The last thing most people want to do after partying all day is go for a three mile jog. But it still needs to be done…so I did it. Some things in life are just that simple. And now it is time to close the book on another good weekend. So far I have to say that age 42 is off to a good start.

Of course I have been 42 for less than a week, but still…

Until tomorrow!
