A Life Worth Weighting For - June 8th, 2013 by Donald McDermott
“The individual who says it is not possible should move out of the way of those doing it.”
― Tricia Cunningham
If you go back and check my blog from one week ago today, I refer to myself as a “triple threat.” I took full advantage of the day off from work and I got in my daily 3-mile run, worked myself out in my basement/man cave AND played two games of softball. This week, I can refer to myself as a double threat. Meghan and I were up and out of the house fairly early. Meg’s old softball team, The Pink Ladies, had a playoff game this afternoon. We went to cheer them on…and they won. Coincidence, I think not. Lol. Congrats to them though. Can’t wait for the next round. Before the game, the team also raised a few funds with a car wash. I was more than happy to do my part to support the team.
Especially since my white mini-van is ALWAYS filthy. After the game I had just enough time to get my own run in for the day. Three more miles added to the list for the week. Just three more tomorrow to hit my goal of 21 for the week. Thinking of upping the ante again for next week. But that is another story. For today, I followed up my run by toweling off, throwing on my Medford softball jersey, and heading out to a double-header of my own. I pitched in both games. Stunk it up at the plate for the most part…just one of those days. BUT, I did come through when it counted. We won the first game and lost the second game by one run in the bottom of the 7th inning…OUCH! We were down by seven at one point, so I was happy to see us show some heart and not go away quietly at least.
I was also happy to have Meghan there to cheer me on too. Last week she spent both games running around the playground. But thanks to the rains yesterday, the playground was more or less flooded. Which meant that Meghan actually had to (GASP)…watch the game! She cheered on her daddy and I was really happy to have here there. When all was said and done. We came home, took showers, popped on the air conditioning, heated up leftovers from last night for dinner…and just lounged together for awhile. Like I said in my last blog, not a lot going on this weekend as far as events go. But I do love spending quality time with my little girl. Even the quiet moments with her are moments I will remember forever.
Until tomorrow!
