A Life Worth Weighting For - June 7th, 2013 by Donald McDermott

Ahhhhhh Friday, I thought you would never get here. Actually, I must say that it came pretty quickly this week. And a productive week it was too. Not to mention my birthday week. So a lot went on and a lot got done. Still looking forward to the weekend though. Even if there isn’t much going on. I do have Meghan back with me for the next two days, which is always cool. Unfortunately, Mother Nature decided that today we should all be treated to a monsoon (lucky us). So there wasn’t a whole lot that we could do out of the house today. Speaking of doing things outside of the house, I have said in the past that I don’t mind running my miles in the rain. There are times when I even prefer it. Today was NOT one of those times. For some reason I thought that the rain was supposed to cool the temps way down today.

So I wore both a hooded sweatshirt with a Steelers jersey over it. Not the best idea I have ever had. Once my clothes started to get wet…and they got REALLY wet (monsoon, remember?), I felt like I was trying to run while wearing a lead vest strapped to me….ugh. Definitely not fun today. I did it though. And that is all that matters. I am also not a big red meat eater these days. But every once in awhile I get in the mood for a good steak or a burger on the bbq grill. Well today I had a hankerin’ for meat loaf. So while Meggy was in school I whipped one up for us for dinner…and it totally ROCKED!!! Made a whooole lotta veggies on the side to go with it. Meghan and I both like meat loaf every now and again.

Meg’s mom on the other hand doesn’t really care for it very much. So she never makes it at home, and Meghan and I rarely get to eat it. I think today was definitely a good time to break it in again….YUM! I think my daughter would definitely agree…if she was still awake that is. Meg is sound alseep…snoring softly in the next room after a lousy weather day, but some good quality daddy-daughter time together. The plan was to head downstairs for my second workout of the day once she fell asleep for the night. However…I fell asleep on the floor at the foot of her bed for a little while. Just woke up tired and sore, with enough “oomph” left in me to type out this blog…and crawl into bed. Tomorrow is another day. And there are always more workouts to be had!

Until tomorrow!
