YAAAAAAAWWWWNN!
Got to sleep at somewhere around 6am today…and was back up and at `em at around 9:30am. At least I am done with my delivery job for the next two weeks or so. Looking forward to getting to bed at a decent hour tonight. Not long after I sign off on this blog entry as a matter of fact. Today was filled with a whole bunch of good things on a personal level, I am happy to report. For one…I got my daily run in. For those keeping score at home, I have 12 miles in the bank over the past few days. The mark for the week is 21 (3 miles a day now). For another, one of my favorite shows on television, Burn Notice, returned for its new and final (sadly) season tonight. That gave me something to watch and listen to in the background while I got in a good, solid workout in the man cave. My goal for this summer is to get in as many days as I can where I run in the morning and then workout in the evening.
I have done pretty well so far…but my birthday and deliveries have made that goal a lot more difficult to achieve as of late. Definitely felt good to conquer both physical challenges today. Hoping to put a lot more of those days and nights together now that I have a break in my delivery schedule. On a not-so-positive note, I didn’t have Meghan with me tonight. Thursday is usually my time with her. But since her mom let me have her for my birthday on Tuesday (one of her days), I gave her Thursday to balance out our time. Not fun…but I try to be fair at least. It’s about all that we can do. On a normal night, I would wait for Megs to fall asleep before I went downstairs for my workout. That means I am up pretty late some nights waiting for her to conk out. The kid is definitely a night owl like her dad. Since she was with her mom tonight….
….I got to bang out my workout earlier than usual. Which means I can get to bed earlier than usual too. Like the Monty Python crew says, “Always look on the bright side of life.” So to tally up my day, that was a 3-mile run in the afternoon, good choices at all of my meals during the day, a good long workout this evening that mixed in cardio, stretching and weights, and now a good long night’s sleep to wrap up the day. Not too shabby if I do say so myself. Hope anyone out there who might be reading this is having a good day too….and a good week as well. Oh yeah….before I sign off let me wish a Happy Birthday to two very special fellow Geminis. My uncle Eugene out in New Jersey and my looong-time co-worker and friend at PARENTGUIDE News, Bill Scalzitti. Both are celebrating birthdays today….hope it is a great day for them both!
Until tomorrow!
