A Life Worth Weighting For - June 1st, 2013 by Donald McDermott

You know how when an entertainer is good at three different things….let’s say acting, singing and dancing….they are called a “triple threat?” Well I am happy to say that today I was a triple threat where my personal little fitness journey is concerned. Meghan had one of her friends stay over last night. So while the kiddies were sound asleep upstairs, I got up bright and early and headed down to the man cave to start off my day. Caught up on a few shows while I banged out a hundred reps each of sit-ups, push-ups, squats and leg raises. Followed by a little more than 200 reps with light weights.
Not a bad way to start off my Saturday. In the early afternoon, Meg’s friend had a softball game down the street from our house and we went to cheer her on. Since it was right down the street from us, I asked a couple of the moms there if they could keep an eye on Meggy, who was playing the total social butterfly with her friends. Then I headed back home and got in my 3-mile run for the day. The heat was pressing down on me, but I have to say that doing three miles every day now has definitely gotten a little bit easier. By the time I was done, the game was about over.
So I picked up Meggy and we headed home so that I could shower, change and go to my own game. The field wasn’t far…they have a nice little playground for kids…and a few of the other dads bring their kids too…so Meg was happily occupied. I practiced for an hour and then played in two games…that’s on top of my morning workout AND my afternoon run. Three solid physical activities in the same day…gotta love it. Plus, time well spent with my little girl. That is what I call making the most of my Saturday. And now, with Meg sound asleep and my own eyes starting to droop.…it is time to call it a night. Hope you all had a good day too!
Until tomorrow!
