A Life Worth Weighting For - April 28th, 2013 by Donald McDermott

YAAAAAWWWWN!

Another day where “no rest for the weary” seems like a fitting mantra. I got home from delivering the brand new copy of PARENTGUIDE to the masses of Manhattan at around 4:30 this morning. Pulled the covers over my head at around 5 o’clock….and it seemed like I had JUST closed my eyes when my alarm clock shocked me awake at a quarter-to-nine. Dragged my tired and sore old bones outta bed and got ready to start the day. Met Meggy and her mom at church bright and early at 9:30. After a rousing Sunday service presented by our very own Pastor Anthony Pallella, my Sunday was officially underway. We said our heartfelt weekly hellos and goodbyes on the church steps….

….and then finally Meghan and I hopped in my trusty white mini-cargo van…and headed towards Queens. We were on our way to Belmont Racetrack to celebrate the first birthday of our little one-year old cousin, Alivia (so cute!). Meghan doesn’t get to see her cousins from my dad’s side of the family nearly enough. She was reeeeaaaallly looking forward to this today…and it definitely turned out to be a great day for everyone there. I really hope that we all get to do it more often with the summer right around the corner. Meg’s mom picked her up late in the afternoon and after saying goodbye to my extended family I headed into Queens to grab something to eat and get ready for another long night of deliveries.

I finally met up with my faithful delivery sidekick Cody and went into the city yet again. Cody and I get along great, we have ever since he and his brother Jesse were young, That always makes our nights go by faster. I just got in a little while ago….just before the clock struck four in the morning. When I was younger (and still drinkin) I always said that the key to any great weekend is not being able to remember it. Nowadays however, I am forgetting things because I am getting older and more tired by the second…lnot because I am partying the better part of my memory off…ol. Another good day…and good weekend…in the books for me. Now if you don’t mind, I am going to go pass out now…that scale will be waiting for me whether I am ready for it or not.

Until tomorrow!
