A Life Worth Weighting For - June 11th, 2013 by Donald McDermott

                     - Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.

Okay, I was so excited over the past few days, from the christening on Sunday to the concert on Monday, that I never got to talk about where I am so far for the week as far as my weight loss/fitness journey goes. Even with everything that has been going on in my life as of late, I haven’t lost focus as far as where I want to be from a health and fitness standpoint. I made a rallying cry a few months back to the effect of “I will BE the person that I always thought I should be.”  I definitely haven’t forgotten that…and I want to make a LOT of progress on attaining that goal over this summer.

And busy or not…and I absolutely have been lately…..but I haven’t missed one single day of jogging. I am up to three miles a day now. Some days it is at noon, some days it is at 4pm. I have even been out pounding the pavement at 11pm so I get it in before the day officially ends. But I always get those runs in…and that is all that matters.  Well yesterday as I counted down the hours between my work day and my trip into the city to see Paul McCartney, I stepped on the scale for my weekly weigh in. I lost another half-pound, which I am happy about, but was a little frustrated about at the same time.

On top of watching what I eat consistently, I am jogging 21 miles a week for the past 2-3 weeks now…TWENTY-ONE MILES! I really thought that would make more of a difference. I won’t let it bother me though. A loss is a loss is a loss. Another half pound this week is one less to lose next week. I guess….lol.  And before I sign off, want to wish a very Happy Birthday to my friend Christine. Love ya MP....hope you had a great day despite what your family is dealing with right now. Looking forward to seeing you and the kids this summer!

Until tomorrow!
